Banja Luka driving schools face potential price increases
Driving schools in Banja Luka are facing economic pressure that may lead to significant increases in training costs. Instructors report that current prices are unsustainable due to rising fuel costs, vehicle maintenance expenses, and upcoming regulatory changes that include an increase in the mandatory number of training hours.
While current complete training packages in Banja Luka range from approximately 1,150 KM to 1,300 KM—covering theory, tests, 35 driving hours, medical certificates, and first aid—instructors suggest a realistic price based on current costs should be around 1,600 KM. For comparison, training in Sarajevo costs between 1,900 KM and 2,200 KM.
Some schools have already seen a 20 to 25 percent decline in candidates. Business owners are hesitant to raise prices for fear of further reducing enrollment, yet they face financial difficulties if prices remain stagnant. Additionally, increasing traffic congestion in the city, which has an estimated 108,000 registered vehicles, is complicating training sessions due to legal limits on consecutive driving hours.
