Banja Luka energy subsidy applications close after 1,000 requests

The Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency of Republika Srpska has suspended applications for energy efficiency subsidies in the Banja Luka region after receiving more than 1,000 applications within just two days. The public call, which opened on September 9, was closed on September 11 due to the rapid reservation of available funds for the area.

The sudden closure has caused concern among citizens who were unable to gather the necessary documentation, such as proof of ownership and utility bills, in time. Some residents have raised questions on social media regarding the short duration of the application window.

Denis Stevanović, the Director of the Fund, stated that the process was transparent and that the public call clearly specified that applications would be accepted until funds were exhausted. He noted that the rapid response is consistent with previous years and that using postal services for applications was intended to prevent speculation regarding the order of submission. For the residential sector across Republika Srpska, a total of 4.6 million KM has been allocated, with individual grants covering up to half of justified costs, with a maximum of 5,000 KM per application.
