Banja Luka implements 7 KM minimum taxi fare

As of October 6, a new pricing regulation has taken effect for taxi services in Banja Luka. A minimum fare of 7 KM has been established, meaning passengers will pay this flat rate even if the taxi meter shows a lower amount for short trips.

Dragan Purišić, president of the Association of Taxi Drivers Banja Luka, stated that the decision was necessitated by rising fuel prices and increased operational costs. He noted that since February, labor rates had not been adjusted despite the rising cost of fuel. Purišić explained that short-distance trips have become economically unfeasible due to current traffic congestion and fuel expenses, making rides below 7 KM unsustainable for drivers.
