Banja Luka parents demand action over illegal sidewalk parking

Parents in Banja Luka are expressing ongoing concern regarding illegal parking on sidewalks in Hajduk Veljka Street, an area frequently used by children walking to school. Despite previous assurances from the City Administration that communal police conduct daily inspections and issue fines, residents claim the situation remains unchanged.

New photographic evidence submitted by parents shows vehicles obstructing the sidewalk during peak hours. The community reports that the issue has persisted for nearly a year, forcing children to walk in the roadway to avoid parked cars. While the city maintains that they respond to citizen reports and perform regular patrols, parents have noted difficulties in coordinating with the traffic police and the 'Pauk' towing service, citing instances where no available vehicles were sent to the scene.

Rather than seeking only individual fines, parents are now calling for permanent infrastructure solutions. Their demands include the installation of protective bollards to prevent sidewalk parking, improvements to pedestrian crossings, traffic calming measures, and increased surveillance during school commute hours.
