Banja Luka preschool educators demand salary increases
Preschool educators in Banja Luka have initiated official negotiations with the city to demand improved material and social conditions. The union representing the Center for Preschool Education and Training is seeking a 10 percent salary increase for all employees, citing that continuous inflation and rising living costs have nullified previous wage hikes.
In addition to salary increases, the union is demanding that the income of educators be equalized with other municipal budget users. They are also calling for solutions regarding the enrollment of employees' children in the city's preschool institutions. The union stated that educators are in an “extremely ungrateful position” compared to other budget users, emphasizing the high level of responsibility inherent in their work. If demands are not met, the union has signaled it may undertake further industrial actions.
