Banja Luka–Prijedor highway construction targeted for 2028 completion

The construction of the approximately 40-kilometer Banja Luka–Prijedor highway is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, according to Zoran Stevanović, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Republika Srpska.

During a site visit near the Kuljani interchange, Stevanović noted that construction permits for an additional 3.2 kilometers of the route are expected shortly. He stated that once certain legal disputes are resolved, the construction site should be fully open by the end of the year. The minister praised the concessionaire, the Chinese company Shandong, for their professional approach, noting that sections of the route are already prepared for paving.

The project, with Everit serving as the main contractor, begins at the Kuljani interchange and heads toward Prijedor. Future plans include extending the highway toward Novi Grad and the border with Croatia. Work will also soon begin on a bypass around Banja Luka to connect the highway to local traffic networks.
