Banjaluka faces public transport crisis and traffic congestion

Public transport provider Aldem has warned that the bus line to the Manjača suburb may face suspension without financial support from the City of Banja Luka. The company reports operating at a loss for eight months due to rising costs, noting that current revenues from urban routes are being used to subsidize the Manjača line. Officials suggest that without intervention, the service may not be sustainable past the end of the year.

Simultaneously, the city is experiencing significant traffic congestion, particularly near the Venice Bridge and Stepa Stepanović Boulevard. Residents and taxi drivers have reported heavy evening traffic jams, raising concerns regarding emergency vehicle access and the increasing reliance on automobiles for short distances that could otherwise be traveled on foot.
