Banjaluka implements free land plots and housing legalization

The city of Banjaluka has implemented several initiatives aimed at housing legalization and supporting families. Mayor Draško Stanivuković announced that the city has legalized over 10,000 houses, providing legal status to approximately 50,000 citizens.

Additionally, the city has established a ranking list for the distribution of free land plots. These plots are designated for young married couples, single parents, and families with four or more children. To further assist these residents, the city provides free house projects and building permits.

City Manager Mirna Savić-Banjac noted that these measures are part of a broader demographic strategy that includes financial support for childbirth, subsidies for kindergartens, and free public transport for children from multi-child families. The initiative for free land plots follows a legislative change in 2026 that allows such distributions not only in Banjaluka but across the Republika Srpska.
