Bank Central Asia to conduct share buyback amid stock volatility

Bank Central Asia (BCA) has announced it will proceed with a share buyback program from October 19 to 21, 2026. This move follows a period of significant price volatility where the company's stock hit the automatic reject lower (ARB) limit for two consecutive days.

The buyback is part of a larger program with an allocation of up to Rp 5 trillion, spanning from March 12, 2026, to March 11, 2027, as approved during the 2026 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. The company stated that the action is intended to demonstrate confidence in its business fundamentals and to support the stabilization of the Indonesian capital market.

The recent stock decline occurred amid market sentiment regarding MSCI's consultation on reclassifying Indonesia's market status from Emerging Market to Standalone Market. On October 16, 2026, BCA shares fell 14.81 percent to Rp 5,175, accompanied by significant foreign net selling. This was followed by a further 6.86 percent drop on October 19, 2026.
