Robert Budi Hartono Gains Sole Control of Bank Central Asia (BCA)

Indonesia's banking sector saw several notable developments. Bank Central Asia (BCA) announced that Robert Budi Hartono is now the sole controlling shareholder after the death of his brother Michael Bambang Hartono. Through PT Dwimuria Investama Andalan (DIA), Hartono retains 51% of the holding company, which owns about 55% of BCA’s shares.

BCA’s stock price continued its recent rally, rising 13.96% over the past month to around IDR 6,325 per share, though foreign buying has flattened, with net foreign purchases totaling IDR 1.37 trillion.

Bank Jakarta’s digital platform, JakOne Mobile, received the Top Digital Application Regional Banking award at the 2026 Digital Excellence Awards. Bank Jakarta’s CEO Agus H. Widodo highlighted the win as evidence of the bank’s ongoing digital transformation, while CTO Daniel Setiawan Subianto stressed the focus on security and user experience.

The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) reported the liquidation of seven rural and Sharia rural banks (BPR/BPRS) in the first half of 2026, with 18 more still in the process. LPS cited weak corporate governance, internal shareholder disputes, and regulatory violations as primary causes, noting an average resolution time of about 21 months.
