Bank Ochrony Środowiska reports significant profit decline

Bank Ochrony Środowiska (BOŚ) reported a significant drop in net profit for the first half of 2026. The Group's net profit fell to approximately 15.1 million PLN, compared to nearly 80 million PLN during the same period in the previous year.

Several key factors contributed to the decline. The bank cited a reduction in interest income due to falling WIBOR rates following interest rate cuts by the central bank. Additionally, the results were impacted by the reassessment of expected cash flows from consumer credit portfolios following a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union (TSUE).

Other financial pressures included higher Bank Guarantee Fund (BFG) contribution costs and a one-time reserve for an administrative fine imposed by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). The KNF fine relates to irregularities in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations occurring between 2018 and 2020.

Despite the profit drop, the bank saw a 19.5 percent increase in fee and commission income, reaching 77.8 million PLN, driven by brokerage services and credit commissions. Total assets grew by 16.3 percent year-on-year to 27.3 billion PLN.
