Bank of America and IFC to visit Venezuela to assess debt and investment
Delegations from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and Bank of America (BofA) are scheduled to travel to Venezuela this week. The visit marks a formal approach by these financial institutions to the country after several years of absence.
The IFC mission aims to establish direct contact with the Venezuelan business sector to identify companies interested in financing, technical assistance, and development capital for corporate growth.
Simultaneously, the Bank of America delegation, which includes bondholders and creditors of both the Republic and Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), intends to evaluate the economic context on the ground. This group is exploring potential scenarios for the future restructuring of Venezuela's external debt.
This mission follows previous visits in 2026 by groups linked to JP Morgan and Jefferies. While reports indicate that government representatives have declined formal meetings with these investor groups, some interactions have reportedly occurred with representatives of the United States Embassy.
