NVIDIA expands $80 billion share buyback after record Q1 earnings
NVIDIA Corp. reported record first‑quarter results for fiscal year 2026/27, with revenue of $81.62 billion, an 85 % increase year‑over‑year, driven by a 92 % jump in data‑center sales. Adjusted EBIT rose 147 % to $53.8 billion and free cash flow hit a new high of $48.6 billion, up 86 % from the prior quarter. The board approved an $80 billion increase to its share‑repurchase program, leaving $38.5 billion still available, and raised the quarterly dividend to $0.25 per share. Export restrictions meant no AI chips were shipped to China this quarter, compared with $4.6 billion the year before. Analysts noted that the company remains at the center of the global AI boom and discussed where future growth will come from.
The earnings beat expectations across the board, with gross margin improving to 75 % and revenue outlook for the next quarter projected at $91 billion, above analyst forecasts.
