Bank of America raises server CPU market forecast driven by AI
Bank of America has significantly raised its forecast for the global server processor market, projecting it to reach over $210 billion by 2030. This is an increase from the previous estimate of $170 billion. The growth is driven by high demand for AI computing power and the emergence of AI agents.
Analyst Vivek Arya notes that AI agents will shift the balance between CPUs and GPUs. While GPUs handle primary computations, CPUs are expected to become the essential control layer for autonomous AI agents. This shift could move the CPU-to-GPU ratio from 1:4 during training to nearly 1:1 during inference applications.
Additionally, the bank identifies AI as a major driver for the cybersecurity sector. Because AI agents can identify vulnerabilities and execute attacks with increased speed, there is a growing need to secure identities, access rights, data flows, and cloud applications. Bank of America maintains a “Buy” rating on SentinelOne and Zscaler.
