Bank of Egypt invests over 100 million EGP in four health institutions
Bank of Egypt announced a package of contributions exceeding 100 million Egyptian pounds to improve four medical facilities across the country. The funding supports the Theodor Bilharz Institute for Research (30 million EGP), the Islamic Center for Cardiology and Surgery at Al‑Azhar University (26 million EGP), the Bank of Egypt – Shifa Children Cancer Hospital in Upper Egypt (36 million EGP) and the King Fahd Unit for Kidney Failure at Al‑Qasr Al‑Aini hospitals (11 million EGP). The bank also highlighted its earlier investment of about 300 million EGP in the third phase of the Shifa Hospital, which expanded its capacity for free pediatric oncology care. Overall, Bank of Egypt’s corporate social responsibility contributions reached roughly 1.5 billion EGP in 2025, with about 535 million EGP earmarked for the health sector. The announcement was made in the presence of CEO Hisham Akasha and senior representatives from the beneficiary institutions, underscoring the bank’s role in sustaining free treatment and advancing medical research and services.
