Bank of England to open new Leeds office in 2028

The Bank of England has secured a long-term site at Capitol House in Leeds to accommodate its expanding workforce. The move, scheduled for late 2028, will see the central bank relocate from its current Yorkshire House office to the new Bond Court location.

Currently employing just under 300 staff in Leeds, the Bank aims to increase its regional headcount to at least 500 by 2027. Governor Andrew Bailey described the new office as an “important milestone” that strengthens the Bank’s presence across the UK and ensures it better represents the diverse communities it serves.

West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin noted that the expansion serves as a “powerful endorsement” of the region’s economic future. The relocation is part of a broader location strategy programme that includes refurbishing the Bank’s historic Threadneedle Street headquarters in London and the potential closure of its Moorgate site.
