Bank of Ghana conducts financial literacy training in Western North Region

The Bank of Ghana has held financial literacy and sensitization programs for informal sector workers in the Western North Region, specifically targeting areas such as Sefwi Wiawso and Juaboso. The engagement included various stakeholders, including market women, taxi drivers, mechanics, carpenters, and dressmakers.

Representing the Bank of Ghana’s Financial Stability Department, Albert Fynn stated that the initiative is part of a nationwide strategy to deepen financial inclusion and improve public understanding of the banking sector. The sessions focused on responsible borrowing, saving, and investment, as well as the importance of using financial instruments like Treasury Bills.

Participants received guidance on consumer protection, including how to identify licensed financial institutions, recognize fraudulent schemes, and protect sensitive banking credentials like passwords and PINs. Additionally, officials provided instruction on handling currency correctly, emphasizing that the Ghana pesewa remains legal tender and should not be rejected.
