Bank of Ireland launches new mobile banking app for customers

Bank of Ireland announced the rollout of a new mobile banking application, beginning with Android devices and later extending to iOS. The redesign aims to make everyday banking simpler, faster and easier, offering smoother navigation, clearer account views, larger balance displays and continuous scrolling.

The app adds stronger security features, including fingerprint and facial‑recognition biometrics for sign‑in, payment approvals and card management. Additional enhancements comprise dark mode, adjustable font sizes for accessibility, the ability to blur balances, and quick card‑freeze controls. Parents and guardians will also be able to manage child Smart Start accounts directly within the app. Group chief operating officer Ciarán Coyle noted the platform handles around 30 million logins each month and is the bank’s most widely used channel.
