Bank of Israel maintains interest rates at 3.25%

The Bank of Israel has decided to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 3.25%, following three consecutive rate cuts in May, July, and September. The decision, announced on October 21, aligns with economic forecasts and comes amid significant geopolitical uncertainty.

Annual inflation in Israel was reported at 1.6% in September, falling within the central bank's target range of 1% to 3%. While the Israeli economy has shown resilience and growth, Governor Amir Yaron noted that the full impact of previous monetary policy measures has not yet been fully reflected in the economy. The central bank also highlighted risks regarding fiscal stability, noting that increased defense spending without corresponding budget adjustments could widen the deficit and trigger inflation.

Economic growth forecasts have been adjusted upward, with the bank projecting growth of 5.6% in 2026 and 7.5% in 2027, though these figures are bolstered by Israeli businesses' overseas production. Domestic GDP is expected to grow by 3.4% in 2026 and 5.1% in 2027. The bank indicated that one further 0.25 percentage point rate cut could occur within the next year.
