Bank of Italy launches new statistics portal

The Bank of Italy has launched a new Statistics Portal designed to provide a simple and unified access point for retrieving and understanding economic and financial data. Released in conjunction with European Statistics Day, the initiative aims to expand the user base to include citizens, journalists, students, and researchers.

According to Sergio Nicoletti Altimari, Deputy Director General of the Bank of Italy, the portal eliminates the need for users to have deep knowledge of specific data sources or complex database organizations. Users can navigate by topic, such as credit, household savings, or general economic trends. The platform provides significant indicators accompanied by clear, intuitive explanations to assist those without specialized economic or statistical expertise, particularly in an era of increasing information sources and generative artificial intelligence.
