Bank of Latvia sells out ‘Kaštonas’ collector coins in three hours

The Bank of Latvia has sold out its new limited-edition collector coin, titled ‘Kaštonas’, in just three hours. Despite having a nominal value of only 5 euros, individual coins were sold for approximately 147 euros.

The release, which began at noon on October 8 via the bank's official online store, saw the entire circulation of 3,000 units exhausted by 3:00 PM. To prevent bulk purchasing, the bank implemented a restriction allowing a maximum of three coins per person. The coin, which was minted in Lithuania, saw high demand due to its limited mintage and unique design.
