Bank of Maldives sets Guinness World Record for simultaneous snorkeling
The Bank of Maldives (BML) has achieved a Guinness World Record for the most people snorkeling simultaneously at a single venue. The event featured 314 participants at Niva Kurumba Maldives.
Organized as an awareness initiative, the record attempt aimed to highlight the fragility of the Maldives' coral reefs and encourage collective responsibility for marine conservation. The event was supported by BML staff, Niva Kurumba Maldives, and resort guests. Following official verification, the certificate was presented to BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and Niva Kurumba Maldives General Manager Morten Junior.
The achievement aligns with BML’s ENV POS initiative, which uses a portion of transaction earnings from its Point of Sale terminals to fund national environmental projects. Through this program, the bank collaborates with organizations like Parley Maldives and the Maldives Ocean Plastics Alliance (MOPA) to manage ocean-bound plastic waste.
