Bank of Mexico Deputy Governor delivers lecture at BUAP
Galia Borja Gómez, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Mexico, delivered a keynote lecture titled ‘Monetary policy, decisions, tools and impact on the Mexican economy’ at the BUAP Seminar Unit. The presentation was attended by students from the Faculty of Economics, professors, and external guests.
During her lecture, Borja Gómez detailed the functions of the Bank of Mexico, emphasizing its role in maintaining low and stable inflation to protect the purchasing power of the currency. She explained how inflation is calculated by INEGI using the National Consumer Price Index and discussed the primary expenditure categories for Mexican citizens, including services, food, non-food goods, agricultural products, and energy.
