Bank of South Pacific launches eDollar e-wallet in Fiji
The Bank of South Pacific (BSP) has launched the eDollar app, an electronic wallet designed to modernize financial services and promote inclusion in Fiji. The app allows users to pay and transfer money using QR codes, reducing the need for physical branch visits and cash transactions.
While e-wallets have existed in Fiji since 2010, digital payments saw significant growth following the COVID-19 pandemic. The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) reported 57 million mobile money transactions worth $2.9 billion in 2025, and QR payment values have increased by 700% over the last five years.
BSP Chief Information Officer Omid Saberi stated the initiative aims to provide customers with greater financial control at a lower cost. The eDollar app incorporates Fiji’s national QR standard, making it interoperable with other payment service providers. RBF Governor Ariff Ali praised the move, noting that interoperability is essential for an efficient payment ecosystem.
