The opening round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club saw Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) take an early lead. VCU carded a 10-under 278, holding a two-stroke advantage over several teams, including Kent State and Eastern Michigan. Individually, VCU’s North Chery leads the field at 8-under 64.

Lamar University finished the first round tied for seventh place with a team score of 3-under 285. Matthew Bramford led the Cardinals with a 3-under 69, tying for 13th, while Nathan Woodham finished tied for 19th after recording an eagle.

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) sits in ninth place among the 13-team field with a team score of 286, two-under par. Sophomore Maddox Crowder led the Blue Raiders with a 3-under 69, placing him in a tie for 13th place.
