Bank Pekao considers rebranding and name change

Bank Pekao is reportedly considering a major rebranding effort that could include changing its name and removing the bison from its logo. Cezary Stypułkowski, the president of Bank Pekao, has filed applications with the Patent Office for the trademarks ‘Polbank’ and ‘Polbank24’. These filings cover a wide range of banking and financial services, including mobile software and account management.

While the registration of new trademarks does not always guarantee a full rebranding, the move follows previous observations by Stypułkowski regarding the bank being frequently confused with PKO due to its branding. The bank's press office stated that it is currently in the process of evaluating its market position and the impact of its brand assets on its competitive standing. Conceptual work regarding these changes is reportedly ongoing and has not yet been finalized or approved by the supervisory board.
