Bank Tabungan Negara plans Rp 2 trillion bond issuance and digital gold services
PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk (BTN) is implementing strategic initiatives to strengthen funding and expand its digital services. The bank plans to issue rupiah-denominated bonds worth approximately Rp 2 trillion in the near future, depending on market conditions. President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that rupiah bonds are preferred over global bonds to meet the company's specific funding needs.
Additionally, BTN is developing a digital gold savings service through its mobile banking application, Bale by BTN. The service, which will initially focus on gold installment features, is currently undergoing the licensing process with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI). The bank aims to complete the licensing process and launch the service by the end of 2026.
These moves follow a strong financial performance in the first half of 2026, where BTN reported a consolidated net profit of Rp 2.4 trillion, a 40.8% year-on-year increase. The bank's transformation from a mortgage-focused lender to a broader housing financial ecosystem has also resulted in improved asset quality, with the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio decreasing to 2.99% from 3.3%.
