Banking consumer advice in Argentina and Peru: cash‑back tips, fraud claims
In Argentina, banks and digital wallets such as Banco Provincia's Cuenta DNI are promoting cash‑back (reintegro) programmes that cover supermarkets, fuel stations, restaurants and pharmacies. Discounts range from 10‑30 % with monthly caps that can allow an active user to save more than $170,000 AR per month. Specific offers include 15 % at Nini Mayorista, 10 % at Carrefour, 20‑30 % on fuel purchases at YPF, Shell, Axion and Puma Energy, and 25 % rebates at participating eateries and Farmacity pharmacies.
In Peru, consumers reporting unrecognized credit or debit‑card charges are advised to block the card immediately and contact their bank, such as BCP, via the provided phone line or branch. Under the Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP resolution, banks must respond to such complaints within 15 working days, with the option to file a formal dispute through Indecopi if the bank’s decision is unsatisfactory.
