Banking institutions in Bolivia and Mexico launch mobile app updates

Banco Unión has launched a new mobile banking application designed to replace its previous UNImóvil platform. Introduced during Expocruz 2026, the new app utilizes a microservices architecture to provide a more reliable and available user experience. General Manager José Vicente Herrera Amenabar stated the technological leap aims to meet evolving market demands and improve service levels. The transition to the new Banco Unión app will be gradual, with customers receiving notifications to migrate their accounts.

In Mexico, Banco Bienestar is also rolling out updates to its mobile application. The update introduces the ability for beneficiaries to perform and receive money transfers, a feature previously unavailable as the app was limited to balance and movement inquiries. The rollout is being implemented progressively, meaning not all users will have access to the transfer function simultaneously. Currently, users with the update can transfer up to 500 pesos every 24 hours. Officials have advised users to wait for automatic updates rather than attempting manual activation procedures.
