Banking sector updates: Banco do Brasil adjusts payouts and BCP advances buyback program
Banco do Brasil has updated the amount for its interest on equity (JCP) payments. Following a monetary update linked to the Selic rate, the gross amount per share increased from R$ 0.10245643978 to R$ 0.10527005787. Combined with another previously announced payment of R$ 0.03 per share, eligible shareholders can receive a total gross amount of R$ 0.13527005787 per share on September 11, 2026.
In Portugal, Banco Comercial Português (BCP) has executed over half of its authorized share buyback program. Between September 7 and 11, the bank acquired approximately 19.3 million shares on Euronext Lisbon through J.P. Morgan SE, at a weighted average price of 1.1620 euros per share. This weekly operation cost roughly 22.4 million euros.
To date, BCP has accumulated 194,206,927 treasury shares, representing 1.31% of its share capital, for a total expenditure of 208.8 million euros. This represents 51.3% of the maximum 407 million euro buyback program approved in May, which is scheduled to run until December 4, 2026.
