Banking sector updates in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

The National Bank of Serbia has revoked the operating license of Alta Banka a.d. Beograd due to a significant deterioration in its financial condition and liquidity. The central bank stated that the decision was made to protect client interests and maintain financial stability. The Deposit Insurance Agency will act as the bankruptcy administrator, and depositors are entitled to payouts of insured deposits up to 50,000 euros within seven working days.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Deposit Insurance Agency Board has approved an increase in the protected deposit limit. Starting November 1, 2026, the insured amount will rise from 70,000 KM to 100,000 KM. This measure aims to align the country with European Union standards and strengthen confidence in the domestic banking sector, which remains stable and liquid.
