Banking sectors in Malaysia and Hong Kong offer competitive fixed deposit rates

Banks in Malaysia and Hong Kong are offering various fixed deposit promotions. In Malaysia, institutions including Hong Leong Bank, CIMB, Public Bank, AmBank, RHB, Maybank, MBSB, Alrajhi Bank, OCBC, Alliance Bank, and Bank Islam have announced competitive rates for various tenures. For example, Hong Leong Bank offers up to 3.80% p.a. for 12-month deposits, while MBSB provides up to 3.80% p.a. for 12-month terms. Many of these offers require deposits via online banking or specific mobile applications.

In Hong Kong, following interest rate adjustments, at least 13 banks are offering HKD fixed deposit rates of 3% or higher. Fubon Bank leads with a 12-month rate of 3.25% for new funds. Other participating banks include CITIC Bank International, EleBank, and OCBC. Additionally, several banks such as Hang Seng, Nanyang Commercial Bank, HSBC, and OCBC are providing specialized deposit incentives for customers receiving silver bond redemption refunds. US dollar deposit rates in Hong Kong also remain high, with some options exceeding 4% p.a.
