Banking services and account management in Poland
In Poland, consumers face various considerations regarding bank account management and alternative lending options. For individuals without active bank accounts due to financial exclusion, bailiff seizures, or recent account closures, loans are still accessible. While these loans do not require a bank transfer for disbursement—utilizing methods such as cash at branches, postal transfers, or courier visits—lenders are still legally obligated to verify identity and creditworthiness under the Consumer Credit Act and AML regulations.
Regarding existing accounts, unused bank accounts can incur monthly maintenance fees, which may accumulate to approximately 150–200 PLN annually. Consumers can typically close inactive accounts via mobile apps, online banking, or by contacting customer service. Closing an account usually involves a notice period, commonly 30 days, depending on the specific bank and contract terms.
