Bankinter Investment and Plenium Partners Acquire Italian Biometane Group BG Holding

Bankinter Investment SGIIC and Plenium Partners Asset Management have taken 100% control of BG Holding S.r.l., a biometane producer in Italy, through the Ecualia Capital fund. BG Holding owns two biogas plants in Aprilia, Lazio, that are being converted to biometane production. Once conversion is complete each plant will generate about 517 Smc/h of renewable gas, enough to supply roughly 6,000 Italian households and avoid 18,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Commercial operation is expected between July and September 2026.

Portugal’s competition authority (AdC) issued a non‑opposition decision, allowing the joint control transaction between Bankinter Investment SGIIC and Plenium Partners Asset Management. The regulator noted Bankinter’s retail banking activities in Spain and Portugal and Plenium Partners’ focus on renewable‑energy and circular‑economy assets.
