Bankipur Assembly by-election campaign intensifies in Patna

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav led a roadshow in Patna on July 28, 2026, backing RJD candidate Rekha Gupta for the Bankipur Assembly by‑election. He warned that the election could become a milestone in national politics and threatened a “Halla Bol” agitation if students arrested during recent protests are not released by 7 p.m. the following day. Yadav accused the state government of delaying the executive order needed for the releases and criticised deteriorating law‑and‑order, inflation, unemployment and corruption.

On July 27, 2026, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and BJP National President Nitin Nabin held a separate roadshow supporting BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha for the same seat. The rally gathered BJP supporters and highlighted the party’s campaign efforts in the constituency.
