Bankipur bypoll in Bihar marked by voter intimidation claims and BJP campaign rally

Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj and candidate in the Bankipur Assembly bypoll, accused the BJP‑led NDA of deploying "Jeevika Didis" – government‑supported workers – to threaten voters by warning that benefits such as food rations and pensions could be withdrawn if they did not support the NDA. He said the district magistrate’s tweet enabled the practice and warned of a sit‑in protest at the Election Commission if the workers are not barred from poll activities.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary campaigned for the BJP nominee Neeraj Kumar, emphasizing the NDA’s development agenda, including new schools, colleges and digital learning initiatives, and praised the coalition’s work under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former chief minister Nitish Kumar.
