BankIslami partners with Shalimar Express to digitize Pakistan railway payments

aik by BankIslami, Pakistan’s first Islamic digital banking platform, has partnered with AA Enterprises, which operates Shalimar Express, to digitize railway ticketing and cargo payments across the country.

The initiative aims to reduce cash dependency across 40 passenger terminals and cargo hubs nationwide, supporting the State Bank of Pakistan’s ‘Go-Cashless’ initiative. As part of the agreement, aik will deploy Raast QR payment solutions equipped with audio Soundboxes to provide real-time voice confirmations for digital transactions.

Future phases of the partnership include integrating train ticketing directly into the aik Digital app and introducing Dynamic QR Codes to facilitate instant online payments. The move is intended to bring mass transit and logistics operations into the formal digital economy and promote financial inclusion.
