JPMorgan expands JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum

JPMorgan Chase has expanded its JPM Coin deposit token to the Ethereum mainnet, providing institutional clients with an additional public blockchain for 24/7 dollar transfers, securities settlement, and collateral payments. The token, which uses the ticker JPMD, represents commercial US dollar deposits held at the bank.

This expansion follows the token's November 2025 debut on the Base network. JPMorgan cited Ethereum's deep liquidity and existing ecosystem of tokenized assets as primary reasons for the move. The bank aims to bridge the gap between traditional banking and blockchain-based finance, potentially allowing for 'delivery versus payment' (DvP) where tokenized securities and settlement cash are exchanged within the same environment.

Access to JPM Coin remains restricted to approved institutional customers and is not intended for public cryptocurrency trading or retail use. The bank's blockchain unit, Kinexys, noted that the move facilitates convergence between traditional Wall Street institutions and Web3 players. JPMorgan already maintains a presence on Ethereum through tokenized money-market funds like MONY and JLTXX.
