Banks in India to observe multiple holidays in October 2026
Banks in various Indian states will observe several holidays throughout October 2026 due to religious festivals and scheduled weekends. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) schedule, significant closures include October 18 for Sunday and October 24 for the fourth Saturday of the month.
Specific regional holidays include Maha Ashtami on October 19, Dussehra/Mahanavami on October 20, and Vijayadashami on October 21 in several states. In Tripura, banks will be closed on October 17 for Maha Saptami, while most other parts of the country will remain open as it is the third Saturday of the month.
While physical bank branches may be closed, digital banking services such as UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM withdrawals will remain operational. Customers are advised to complete branch-dependent tasks, such as check clearances, ahead of these scheduled holidays.
