Dominican Republic and Argentina report significant economic and health infrastructure developments

In the Dominican Republic, public investment reached 60,644.1 million pesos during the first half of 2026, the highest level for this period in seven years. According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, this represents a 47% increase over the average since 2019. The funds were primarily concentrated in transportation (46%), water supply, education, and environmental protection. Additionally, Banreservas reported that during the first year of Leonardo Aguilera’s presidency (August 2025 to July 2026), the bank disbursed over RD$282,430.2 million in loans, with nearly 48% directed toward productive sectors including SMEs, agriculture, and tourism.

In Argentina, the national government approved a decree to facilitate an $85 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the province of Mendoza. This is the first project under a broader $700 million conditional credit line intended to digitally transform provincial health systems across the country. The Mendoza project will focus on digital infrastructure, information systems, cybersecurity, and staff training to improve public healthcare services.
