Banská Bystrica opens large traffic playground for school education

The Banskobystrická regionálna správa ciest (BBRSC) has officially launched a new large-scale traffic playground in Banská Bystrica. Spanning nearly 1,700 square meters, it is among the largest of its kind in the Banská Bystrica region.

The facility is designed for organized traffic education rather than individual public visits. Kindergarten and primary school groups from the Banská Bystrica district can reserve dates to participate in a program that combines theoretical instruction with practical application. The playground features realistic road elements, including intersections, roundabouts, and traffic signage, allowing children to practice rules using their own bicycles, scooters, or tricycles.

BBRSC officials stated that the goal is to move beyond theoretical learning, allowing children to safely experience situations that might be dangerous in real traffic. By fostering early road literacy and responsible behavior, the initiative aims to instill lifelong safety habits.
