Slovakia election updates: polling results and candidate profiles

As regional and municipal elections approach in Slovakia, various polls and candidate profiles are emerging. In the Nitra Self-Governing Region, candidates are addressing issues such as healthcare shortages, infrastructure needs, and housing. In Žilina, a recent poll showed doctor Rastislav Johanes leading current mayor Peter Fiabáne by a narrow margin of approximately 20 votes.

In Banská Bystrica, mayoral candidates Ján Nosko and Diana Javorčíková are set to participate in a televised debate focusing on transport, housing, and city assets. Javorčíková’s platform emphasizes data-driven solutions, including the construction of rental apartments and entrepreneurship support.

National parliamentary polling by Infostat shows Smer-SD leading with 19 percent, closely followed by Progresívne Slovensko at 18.5 percent. The poll also noted a significant rise in support for the Sme rodina movement following a political alliance between Boris Kollár and Richard Sulík.
