Banten Free Health Check program reaches 70 percent coverage

The Free Health Check (CKG) program in Banten has achieved a national coverage rate of over 70 percent, ranking second in Indonesia. In Tangerang Regency, the program has reached 1.87 million beneficiaries, exceeding the Ministry of Health's target of 1.6 million people by approximately 46 percent.

Health screenings in Tangerang have revealed significant public health concerns, specifically hypertension and dental caries. Approximately 5 percent of the 1.87 million participants were found to have high blood pressure. Medical officials noted that untreated hypertension is a primary driver of stroke, which has seen 2,148 cases at the Tangerang Regency Regional Hospital between January and September 2026, with a high prevalence among productive-age individuals around 40 years old.

The Health Collaborative Center (HCC) has urged the public to utilize these free services to avoid the risks of self-diagnosis, noting that nearly 60 percent of young people under 40 tend to self-diagnose health complaints. Officials emphasize that the CKG program serves as a vital preventive tool for early detection of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and anemia without increasing household financial burdens.
