Banten authorities implement economic development initiatives
In Banten, Indonesia, regional authorities are launching several initiatives to strengthen the local economy and food security. In Lebak Regency, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and PT Lebak Niaga have increased rice processing capacity to 40 tons per day. This expansion aims to optimize local grain absorption and move toward regional food self-sufficiency by 2027. The initiative involves a six-party synergy including the Lebak Regency Government, PT Lebak Niaga, PT BPR Lebak Sejahtera, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani, and PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia to integrate the rice supply chain from upstream to downstream.
Separately, the Banten Provincial Government has submitted a draft regional regulation to inject Rp161.6 billion in capital into PT Jamkrida Banten (Perseroda). This capital injection, consisting of Rp147.9 billion in cash and Rp13.7 billion in land and building assets, is intended to expand financing access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and drive regional economic growth.
