Bantul Regency holds cheap market to control food inflation

The Bantul Regency Government, in collaboration with the Bank Indonesia DIY Representative Office, held a cheap market and MSME bazaar at the Guwosari Sports Center in Pajangan on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The initiative, led by the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), aims to maintain community purchasing power and control food prices.

Local residents showed high enthusiasm due to significant price differences compared to traditional markets, with savings often exceeding Rp5,000 per item. Available goods included 5kg bags of SPHP rice for Rp56,500, Fortune cooking oil at Rp20,000 per liter, eggs at Rp20,000 per kilogram, sugar at Rp15,500 per kilogram, and various onions.

Bantul Vice Regent Aris Suharyanta stated that the event serves to monitor food stock availability and prevent inflation. Officials noted that the program provides much-needed relief for residents to access affordable staple goods while supporting the local economy.
