Bantul Regency prepares for 2026 village head elections

Thirty villages in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, are preparing for the 2026 village head elections (pilur), with voting scheduled for October 4, 2026.

Patalan Village in Jetis District has recorded the highest number of candidates, with five individuals running for the position. In other areas, such as Wonolelo and Mangunan, registration periods were extended to secure two candidates per village. Singosaren also saw a second extension to reach two candidates.

The election process includes a campaign period from September 28 to 30, followed by a cooling-off period from October 1 to 3. Local officials have emphasized the importance of conducting the elections with integrity and without money politics to ensure capable leadership.
