Bantul Revitalises 37 Elementary Schools Under 2026 Government Program

In the 2026 fiscal year, the Indonesian central government allocated funds to renovate 37 elementary schools in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. Six schools have already signed cooperation agreements and begun construction, while the remaining 31 are completing administrative preparations to become eligible for assistance. The local Education, Youth and Sports Office (Dikpora Bantul) oversees the selection of recipient schools based on damage assessments, but the budgeting, contract, and on‑site work are managed by each school. According to Istiani Nurhasanah, head of the SD division at Dikpora Bantul, the initiative aims to improve facilities so that teaching and learning can proceed in a safer, more comfortable environment.
