Bantul village head elections conclude peacefully with high turnout

The 2026 simultaneous village head elections (Pilur Serentak) in Bantul Regency were reported as safe, smooth, and peaceful. The election involved 87 candidates competing across 30 villages, with voter participation reaching approximately 85 percent.

Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih noted that the process remained conducive during monitoring at various polling stations. He emphasized the importance of democratic maturity, urging citizens to respect differing political choices and avoid conflict, noting that all candidates share the goal of improving community welfare.

Following the election, the Bantul Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) urged the elected village heads to unite all elements of society. Hanung Raharjo, Chairman of the DPRD, stated that leaders must represent all residents regardless of their previous political support during the election. He also highlighted the need for elected officials to collaborate with the regional government to support local development programs and strictly adhere to legal regulations to ensure effective public service.
