Bantul village officials urge optimization of local assets to boost revenue

Amir Syarifudin, a member of the DIY Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DIY), has emphasized the importance of optimizing village potential to increase Original Village Income (PAKal). During a book discussion in Mertosanan Kulon, Potorono, Bantul, the focus was placed on leveraging village assets to foster economic independence.

Key strategies discussed include the utilization of village treasury land (TKD), the development of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMKal), and the strengthening of the agricultural and livestock sectors. As an example of success, BUMKal Potorono has reportedly achieved a turnover of Rp1.6 billion, contributing over Rp100 million to the village's original income.

Further development opportunities include transforming reservoir areas (embung) into tourism destinations for culinary activities, education, and trekking. Syarifudin also encouraged the productive use of underutilized village land for plantations or livestock to meet local community needs.
