Banyuwangi begins stall handover at revitalized central market
The Banyuwangi Regency Government has begun the phased handover of market stalls at the revitalized Pasar Induk Banyuwangi. The market, which underwent revitalization by the Ministry of Public Works, is targeted to become fully operational by October 2026.
In the first phase, 560 traders who successfully passed the verification and validation process have been prioritized to occupy the new stalls. To manage the transition and avoid overcrowding, the inspection of stalls and utilities is being conducted in waves, starting with small groups of traders.
To address issues arising from the relocation, the local government has established a centralized complaint post located near the southern entrance of the market. Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani stated that the post is intended to collect and document grievances from traders to find the best collective solutions. This includes addressing concerns from traders who may have missed initial data collection, with officials noting that a second phase of registration will be available for those who meet the necessary requirements.
